Cute things kids say

So, Michael is talking with a friend the other night and
Jim was asking him about how he was doing since his heart attack.
The conversation then turned to heart valve replacement (which Michael will
need in the future). They talked about the differences/advantages of a pig valve
versus a mechanical valve. This perked Hannah's ears as she loves pigs.
Jim tested how much she loved pigs by asking her if she ate various
pork products, which she does not.

On the drive home, Hannah says to Michael, "Daddy if you need to get
a pig valve someday, that is okay with me, as I love you more than I love pigs!"

I just thought that was so sweet.

New Life Experience

Well, just so everyone doesn't think I only write about good things and that life it always great, I decided to write about my day. I got my first ever speeding ticket! I am so mad at myself. Then I started to think about it and it popped into my mind that it was my first ever speeding ticket. Not bad for how I drive! :-) Maybe I can copy the ticket and scrapbook it! Seriously for 23 years of driving, I guess one speeding ticket isn't too bad. Wish it would have come at a better time in my life though. With Michael unsure if he will have a job in another month, the fine isn't helping the stress in our household.

So lessons learned, pay attention to your speed especially in zones with flashing yellow lights. Don't get pulled over by a cop whose wife doesn't like you to begin with.

Big Bugs

Today we got to go to one of our local parks and see a great exhibit. It was an exhibit of Big Bugs. They were giant bug sculptures made from sticks and logs. It was a great day to walk through the park. I've included pictures of the kids to show you just how big they were. The big bugs included an ant, dragonfly, spider, ladybug, grasshopper, assassin bug, praying mantis and a damselfly. I actually learned about the difference between a dragonfly and a damselfly and about an assassin bug. The park also had two cool topiaries to go along with the exhibit: the bee and the butterfly.

Parker's Fascination

Not sure what it is about water towers but Parker has taken a fascination to them. Every time we see one he gets so excited. Well imagine his excitement while on our vacation to see water towers that were painted really fancy.

A picture tells it all

Well this first picture tells a lot about how Lucas' first ever football game went. (They were the home team).

Anyways, this is Lucas' first time playing football. He got some playing time throughout the game. I can't believe he is actually out their playing a contact sport and liking it. He went to the game even though he was feeling a bit under the weather and having some muscle pains. I think he is working muscles he hasn't used in a long time. I'd be sore too after 15 hours of practice a week. We are so proud of him no matter how the team performed!

2 out of 3 ain't bad

Okay, at least the song goes, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. This week 2 out of 3 kids went back to school. Lucas got an extra day off, so he was more than happy to send Hannah to school a day before him. (To help the new sixth graders adjust, the 7th & 8th graders don't go the first day). I can't wait until it is 3 out of 3 though. Parker doesn't start preschool until Thursday. I told them all that I am going to have a "Silent Party" for the 2 1/2 hours that they are all gone on Thursday. Love them all dearly but it will be nice to have a few hours to myself a few days a week. Parker will only be in preschool 3 mornings a week.

Here is Hannah on her 1st day of 3rd Grade!

Here is Lucas on hist first day of 7th grade. What else would you expect him to wear on the first daybut a "funny" t-shirt? Gone are the days when I get to pick out his clothes for the first day of school or even have a say in them. (Click on photo to enlarge it.)
